Mario Orias is a Venezuelan-born filmmaker based in Berlin, working at the intersection of cinema, culture, narrative, and generative imagination.
With over 15 years of experience in film editing, color grading, and visual storytelling, he has worked across fiction, documentary, television, theatrical, and digital productions, shaping narratives through rhythm, emotion, and imagery.
Today, he combines a strong foundation in post-production with emerging generative AI technologies to explore new forms of cinematic expression. Whether in the edit suite or through AI-driven workflows, his focus remains the same: creating images that serve the story.
His work is driven by a fascination with how technology can serve cinema while keeping narrative, emotion, and human experience at its core.
His latest film, Beyond the Visible: Hilma af Klint, was selected among The New York Times' Best Films of 2020. His screenplay Permutation won the first edition of UGBB (Usina de Guiones Breves), the first Spanish-language short film screenwriting program in Germany, and was selected as a finalist in the Script Pitch competition at the 36th Interfilm Berlin International Short Film Festival.
